03/06/2008 - Daytona Beach, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - United States team captain Beth Daniel selected Meg Mallon and Kelly Robbins as her assistant captains for the 2009 United States Solheim Cup team.
Thursday's announcement brings two players with 14 combined appearances on the U.S. team.
Mallon played every Solheim Cup from 1992 through 2005. Her 16 1/2 points are tied for the most by an American player in the Solheim Cup. She shares that mark with Juli Inkster.
"I was thrilled that Beth asked me to be an assistant captain and also thrilled to be with Kelly, considering we've been on six Solheim Cup teams together," said Mallon, who has a 13-9-7 record in the event. "The Solheim Cup has been a major part of my career and I'm really excited to be part of it."
Robbins owns a 10-10-4 record in the event. She won nine times on the LPGA Tour, including the 1995 McDonald's LPGA Championship.
"It is a real honor," Robbins stated. "I've looked up to Beth since I can't remember and just to have her choose me to be part of that week with her, I'm humbled, honored and am really looking forward to it. I can't wait."
Daniel played in eight Solheim Cups and was an assistant captain to Betsy King in 2007.
The next Solheim Cup will take place August 21-23, 2009 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois. Daniel's European counterpart has yet to be named.

Kurt Warner to start, Matt Leinart to watch
Despite the debate that's swirling , Kurt Warner will remain the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, coach Dennis Green said today. The Arizona Cardinals are the +7 point underdog at online sportsbook MySportsbook.com for this Sunday's game.
Green's comment came in a statement released by the team following an ESPN report that Green decided that rookie Matt Leinart would replace Warner as starter for Sunday's game at Atlanta.
"Generally talking about the starting lineup is not something we do," Green told the AP. "However, given the speculation that was out there we want to make it clear. We're disappointed after last week, but we still expect to be a playoff football team and we fully expect Kurt Warner to be the quarterback that leads us. That has not changed."
